Mexico City, I´m inside your mouth, becoming wiser every time I see one of your creatures talk to me and offers me a little bit of chilangoles!! Would I really enjoy my stay in Mexico City if my closest friends weren’t here living? , well all I know is that I missed two  McCartney’s concert in Mexico city, and I´m kind of sad about it  but instead I spent time with this couple of great people and  enjoyed my new little friend. The best of Mexico and Switzerland in this 50 cm guy!!

Tomorrow I go to Merida to go on with the Samson and Delilah opera .

(A Long japanese pause)
Being inside a work limbo, and making a pause in my adventure in Japan, I have returned to my motherland,  For some reason, every time I travel around the world I have an invitation of my opera director Cesar Piña to make an Opera in Mexico,  well even if I’m tempted in ´saying NO, I can´t reject those invitations, because, He has been the one who submerged me in opera , I have worked with different people as well, but, working with Piña is a fascinating experience.

I talked to Severine about going for two months to Mexico and with some regrets because we are not meeting for two months which is a pity if she is my love one, But in a sense is good because our relation has been always with little pauses not seeing each other and that is for me a great thing in a couple, because we have our whole life ahead and little breaks reinforce our love for one another.

Mexico, being here has been somewhat mind refreshing,   MEXICO CITY-MERIDA-MEXICO CITY-GUADALAJARA-MERIDA-MEXICO CITY- ESTADO DE MEXICO. This has been my itinerary for the past three weeks, and I have been somewhat thinking about my future as a professional and as husband, friend and further rolls I´ll acquire.

I have been re entering the virtue of imagination. With this 4 or 5 places I’ve been, I ve been living in hotels for the past three weeks, becoming an isolated man, in some ways, but  I have been re thinking about Mexico and Japan, how the relations and non relations  of this strange countries encounter.

The sakura factor.

gathering for hanami, the sakura is one of the most cherished flowers in the world, specially because it dies so quickly, just two weeks of life, and that’s enough to put a whole country in standstill just to get lunch and dinner under this tree, This tree is the factor of so many metaphors, and it is an example of how nature can really influence humans, in a great way, sentimental, emotional. It is the essence of spring and the perfect timing for change of weather. The pink factor is in this case not kitsch when you are enjoying contemplating the flowers, it is actually a  3d effect, when you see the whole layers of sakura, I wish we could have something like this in Mexico that could make us change our mind and stop applauding mediocrity.

Time:  387 days, East Island called the rising sun, in the belly of the dragon, in the belly where the dragon gets so often intoxicated. I am in one of the floating remains of the dragon’s food, floating on his belly acids.

365 degrees view, most diagonal lines, curved lines, cables, the dragons belly’s veins, black, closing around me, like a curtain. And far away, at the other side of the belly I see the stomach belly button; some say it’s the rectus, the one called Fujiyamaguchi. The the mighty connector. The organ that keeps the dragon healthy and make look all his microplasms up, all of his bacteria’s up, all of the dragon’s inhabitants up.

Therefore, I look up, watching the invisible connection, watching the energy that comes and goes from the dragon’s bellybutton, or rectus.

And I look up, many times because there’s no other way to look.  The sight is cubic, everywhere you look, and if you look with more attention you look a sense of guiltiness that invades the space where each one of them are looking, waiting, and thinking concerning feeling guilty.  As I look around and interact with other living beings inside the dragons belly I see the confrontation between each other with their presence, their looks, and their body language. Confrontation is MUTE, no physical reaction,
When I think I’m a germ in a foreign belly, life achieves he goal of making feel bad to then give you the opportunity to fell a lot better, so the fujiyamaguchi is there for a reason.

miso ramen, shinjuku station inner part, 500 yen  include rice

Long again for the blog o be filled, Many things have passed, many feelings I have been trough and now I’m standing up again, after a little tipsy turby , I literary was LOST IN TOKYO, it seems it’s a real thing , not just a movie. So my mind got lost, especially in summer, I couldn’t think, I couldn’t make anything right, I was kind of lost, but not in a bad sense, on the contrary, I was experimenting new things and new feelings, an my inner chef was slowly getting out, my other curiosities where getting out and I realized , I wanted to explore other things, not just set design, but other different ideas and concepts about my inner experience, Tokyo really make you introspective, because, there’s no other way of understanding this culture. And, why do we get lost??   To find ourselves!!!!
Sunday November 6,  after a show of  the prince of pagodas , which is really interesting, I have spent 9 months in Japan now, ) months , that’s  not much for Japan, I ´ve  seen in NNT so far about 14 productions and seen many things.
I’m privileged enough to make a production in the New National theatre, narita airport, which is from Ramiro Torres de Miguel, and last time I wanted to do something with that theatre play it didn’t worded out as I expected.
I think that this time it will have a twist, because I have learned a lot and I think    the collaboration with the Japanese will be unprecedented , This is the first time some student in NNT want to make a project, It is also the first time that a Latin American will be in an NNT show, which is important, .
So far this is my priority let’s see what happens.

Its time I start cooking too. I´m becoming a CHEF now.

Yesterday was a great day, despite my contradictions in my mind, on becoming involuntarily pseudo Japanese lonely set designer student in Tokyo. & months have passed, many situations, most of them in my head, and it is about how to interact with Japan culture.
Sometimes it’s lovely, sometimes hard, sometimes I feel joy, and sometimes I don’t feel anything at all.

It is possible that I have reach mid life crisis, which in my opinion is not bad, just BORING!
Dakedo, I find myself lost in so beautiful landscapes and human ancient architecture and art.
Tea houses, lovely. Temples, so interesting and grateful. Shrines, the best, but yesterday I found myself face to face with big daibutsu itself.
Kamakura, intense walkthrough, nature at its best. Hidden temples. Perfect view, tea houses. Beach, sea, lovely place. And Daibutsu himself told me as I was following his gentle bronze cracks by his face with my 14x cannon zoom camera, he told me to stay putt. To enjoy life like it is, and to work hard, or study, or do something, but strong, but never be lazy. Lazy, it’s a sin in every religion. And it gives you nothing but pain at the end. He also told me that to be productive not necessarily means making art, but to become something you haven’t become before, and to try new things, because we are complements of life, and we are a small universe, and we are everything but just one thing, so I decided I become a cook now.

Kamakura, perfect spot to talk to your inner self and to get advice of the Buddha. And to meet people, why not!

It is crazy times in Japan, And I have to take advantage of it!!, be wise, and MOVE!!!

20 june 2011
monja

I’m back, again after disaster stoke Japan, after accommodating in Japan again , after Hawaiian blues , after many adventures , theater and Opera , I’m back writing this blog no one reads but anonymous people and maybe one or two that I know and care of.

Let’s start by saying that Japan is a country that you never get tired of it except the so strong train JR announcements and the excessive Kawaii fashion. >>The rest is pure gold.

In Japan is it hard to make friends, but slowly I’m making them, in strange ways.

I have a new love, theatre love that is , KABUKI, I just find out that kabuki is my love of mu life, It is so extremely delicious, just like Ramen, just like sushi, I really enjoy the magic and the traps, it is so miraculously great experience. I mean, MANGA is there, martial arts is there, anime is there, perfection is there, I think I miss perfection in western theatre, we western are so occupied to experiment all the time, and we don’t make anything perfect, because we don’t believe in it anymore, but when you see something like kabuki, perfection comes and you realized humans are still capable to show hundreds of years behind it, it is so strong for the soul.
